What do lessons include?
Weekly lessons include technique, music theory, ear training, and repertoire. To make lessons engaging & effective, Sarah chooses curriculum based on each student's particular interests and goals.
Do I need a keyboard/piano to get started?
Yes, each student will need access to a piano or a keyboard, weighted with 88 keys to practice every week.
How much time will I need to practice?
Just a little practicing every day helps us progress much more quickly than a lot of practicing once a week! Students should plan to commit to practicing at least 5 days a week, with beginners starting out with 15 minutes a day. Practice time will increase as repertoire progresses.
What is a good age to begin piano?
From 5 years to 95 years! Students are asked to be able to stay focused for the duration of the lesson. Children ages five and older are usually ready to begin. Please contact Sarah to discuss options for students under five-years-old.
What levels do you teach?
Sarah teaches all levels from beginner to advanced.
Can I try out lessons before signing up?
Yes, every new student can sign up for a complimentary online trial lesson with no commitment!
What length lesson should I take?
Sarah will recommend a lesson length based on the current level of the student. Most young beginners start out with 30 minute lessons, while more advanced students will need longer lessons. Adults usually benefit most from 60 minute weekly lessons.
Do I need fast internet for online lessons?
A standard broadband internet connections (25 mbps download/3 mbps upload) should provide an adequate connection for online lessons. Test yours at https://speedtest.net/
I'm a homeschool student; are you a charter vendor?
